Cork taint prevention

We were the first to develop a timely and safe system to identify unpleasant cork taints in wine. The method of analysis was perfected in 1995 and we were the first in Europe to obtain accreditation.
The instrumental analysis uses a gas chromatograph equipped with a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer using the GC/MS/MS analytical technique, which allows selective isolation of the ions of the molecules sought. Following an initial fragmentation of the analyte, specific fragmentation masses are isolated. This achieves higher levels of sensitivity and specificity than using other types of detectors.
After the instrumental analyses have been carried out, organoleptic analyses are also performed on the batches of caps for further verification of the data found instrumentally.
